(strategic alternatives) The Great Recession put tremendous strains on all entrepreneurs, with many losing their businesses. A Janas Consultant was engaged by the owners of Santa Barbara Olive Company to assess their options, including the quick sale of their business. Based on the extensive knowledge of the specialty food industry, the Consultant was able to identify the few active domestic and international buyers in that market in 2009. The Company was sold ahead of schedule and at a full fair price including a handsome compensation package and a sales bonus for the sellers.
